Many Christians feel that, well, God would just not allow His true people to go through the Great Tribulation Period. God would just not let us suffer like that because He loves us.

Fear often misleads or hides the truth from our reality, in part as a triage effort to spare us further trauma and anxiety until we’re more prepared to us for the possibility we prefer not to openly acknowledge. Cognitive dissonance is a built-in tool within the human conscious that might blind us from over stimulating shock so the fuller truth can be fed to us in morsels.
Yes! The overall concept is to believe what the crowds follow, and as you say if given in morsels the truth is more easily seen and digested. No wonder we are compared to sheep led astray, as many flock to what the majority is doing without questioning why or what their following. 🐑🐑
