A Different People

But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him. (Psalm 4:3).

God has a way of making sure those who truly are willing to live for Him understand that they will in view of the world be looked at as A Different People……… No they do not appear different on the outside at all, but on the inside they are different and have been changed by the Holy Spirit within them. They are zealous of good works and seen as peculiar according to the world’s standards, and there are many who have gone before them who were also willing to suffer for Christ’s sake no matter what. (Titus 2:11-15). For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

God our Father in heaven who knows each and every heart knew how long I had been searching for Him to no avail and after reading Isaiah 43:9-12 I never looked back to mans religion or denominations for answers. Only the scriptures through the holy spirit can guide us into all truth and the answers we are searching for in it’s pages! (John 16:13-15). God really does show up when we no longer search for Him where He is not (Isaiah 43:9-12) Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth. Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour. I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God. Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?…….. (Jeremiah 29:11-13).

When we search for God we learn He truly is not far from any one of us, and as the world will make you think you can only serve God once a week for an hour, we must remember all Jesus’ disciples and our Lord Himself did not go into the synagogues of their day to listen to their message, but to teach! So many of Jesus’ teachings were preached out among the multitudes of people outside! There is a harvest waiting to be gathered for the Lord, but sadly the labourers are few (Mathew 9:35-38) And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Ezekiel’s great commission is still in the earth today through those who genuinely take the instruction our Lord gave to them to preach the word. Just as Ezekiel was sent to the most rebellious of people in his day, we too must do the same as people will fight to stay in their sin just as they did in Ezekiel’s day! (Ezekiel Chapter 2).

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.(1 Peter 2:9,10)

(Mark 16:15-20)

  1. Amen. What a powerful reminder that we are set apart for God’s purpose. The world may see us as different, but that’s because His Spirit lives within us. Grateful that He calls us His own and gives us strength to walk in His light each day. 🙏🏼

  2. Thank you for this post, Julia. The verses from 1 Peter that you shared are very deep. I’m so glad your search has had a good ending. It reminds me of one of my favorite verses from the Sermon on the Mount:
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
    God’s blessings…
