We all know the saying that when people look at a glass filled with half liquid some say it is half full while others say it is half empty. If we do not view the world through spiritual eyes as we are asked to do by faith things seem dire and unchangeable, the way of God seems more distant from us. It is written we are to renew our minds and by doing so it gives us a whole new outlook. “If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness”.(Ephesians 4:21-24).
If we truly come to believe the truth that is found only in Christ we become an individual fit for the kingdom of God that he is more than happy to give to those who have served him. When we are living by the Spirit of God then his guidance has full run to do none other than what his will is for each and every one of us. “For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ?”.(1Corinthians 2:16). It is by the Spirit given to every believer that we are able to continue the work of our Lord, for we are as he is in this world! “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as he is, so are we in this world”.(1 John 4:17).
At times we are as our own worst enemy and the following verse completely shows the frailty of man who is in need of a Saviour. Our inward man (our mind) where we obtain the knowledge of God is at war with our emotional wants and needs of the outward man (the flesh). We as christians are so thankful for our Lord and thank God for him! “For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin”.(Romans 7:22-25).
