Jesus said we would always have the poor among us, but it is not the poor of material wealth who would be considered destitute in the eyes of God though for those who lack the worlds goods are considered to be rich and blessed in the mercy of God. The same temptations that we have are the same that were offered to Jesus by the great deceiver himself satan. “Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Again the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve”.(Matthew 4:8-10).
We can trust in the Lord who has overcome any and all temptations that are presented to us in this life. Jesus understands as he too suffered many times at the hands of many who sought to overthrow him and the doctrine of his Father which he brought. “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error”.(1 John 4:4-6).
We all pass through this temporary place and as we keep our sights on the eternal through the eyes of faith, we will not be caught up in the myriad of snares our soul could be overtaken by. Stay focused on the promises of God who is faithful to all who hope in him! “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God. This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth”. (1 John 5:4-6).
We are living in a time when there are so many avenues for people to gain information on anything, and even the knowledge of God is in jeopardy if one is not an avid reader of the written word for many deceivers have gone out into the world and we need to be aware of the devices of the enemy of our soul with false teachings. Always check scripture given when reading all the teaching available out there and make sure it lines up with the word of God! “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works”.(2 Timothy 3:12-17).
