“On Praying”

prayer

Sometimes with a well meaning heart we lift up prayers for other’s only to not have them answered and we become discouraged. Many think Jesus prayed for everybody and we are to do the same, but did he really? The answer may surprise you. In Jesus own word’s lets read who he prayed for………..”For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine is thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition: that the scripture might be fulfilled“.(John 17:8-12)

We have just read that those who follow the way of the world are separate from those who follow the teachings of Christ. Paul spoke of this very thing as it brought him great joy those who stood with him in the teachings of truth, but how also the love of the world will take a person out of the will of God. We must press on in the work of the Lord even if other’s cannot see the importance of our mission. Paul tell’s us to stay strong as Demas had forsaken his call and loved this present world more. “But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thess-a-lo-ni’-ca; Cres’-cens to Galatia, Ti-tus unto Dalmatia”.(2 Timothy 4:5-10).

For those who truly love the Lord they will not jeopardize the promises given them by staying the course. Even God did not look too kindly on those who were setting their hand to evil and saying they are serving him in rebellion. In fact he even said not to lift up a prayer for them as he would not listen. God expects those who say they love and serve him to do what he asks as a Christian should do as the bible is a guide we can all read of and know his will. “For if you throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor; If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the Lord. Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee”.(Jeremiah 7:5-7,11,16). God was very upset with those who went to a place of worship and did opposite of his way. The one who is the same yesterday, today, and forever still feels the same and only wants prayers lifted that will edify the body of Christ.

Todays world still tries to incorporate ways opposite of the will of God as we see churches trying to find a place for homosexuality even though God has not changed his mind on this abomination and many others we can learn from scripture and will turn his face today just as easy as he did many years ago for such rebellion….. Remember examples given as Sodom and Gomorrah, as well as Noah’s ark that housed only the righteous soul’s willing to serve only him!

THY KINGDOM COME,THY WILL BE DONE, IN EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN…………………………….
