The fisherman is very important to God and as Jesus called Peter who was a fisherman, it was by the Holy Spirit he replied to Jesus that he is the Son of the Living God! Matthew 16:15-19). He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
We read of the tree of life that is in the midst of the street of heaven, and the river clear as crystal which proceeds out of the throne of God. (Revelation 22:1,2). This is also fortold of the waters that shall be healed, and the multitude of fish that will be taken up in the nets from the great sea. Ezekiel clearly prophesied of the end of all generations and the tree of life that would be for the healing of the nations. (Ezekiel 47:10-12). And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Just as Jesus saw Simon Peter and his brother Andrew casting a net, and that he would make them fishers of men he considers us fishers as well to draw people closer to him. (Matthew 4:18-22). And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
