” Pollutions Of The World “

It is not my words but Gods own in scripture that tells us we should escape the pollutions of the world. The pollutions are the wicked acts and sins of the flesh people will follow other than God.We are told of those who tend to the lust of the flesh and are the servants of corruption, and it is worse for the one who comes to the knowledge of the truth of Christ and instead returns to the sin they left. (2 Peter 2:18-22).  For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.(Matthew 12:43-45).

Even as a Christian we all fall short of the glory of God, but when we do our best to keep our minds on Christ and do the will of God and see our brethren fall away to renew them once again by repentance. (Hebrews 6:4-6).  For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

God is a jealous God who loves his children and does not look kindly on those who would pollute his holy name! (Isaiah 48:9-12).  For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.(Exodus 34:14).

Even Joshua taught in his address to the people how God had freed them from egypt (bondage) and are being led to a better land, but if they would forsake him by serving strange gods of the land then he would consume them from the land for he is a jealous God and their sin would remove them even after they had done good! (Joshua 24:16-20). And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods; For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God.And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If ye forsake the Lord, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
