My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
Another word for faith is trust and we must realize although others can comfort and console us, that only knowing and relying on Christ gives us a peace which passes all understanding. (Philippians 4:4-7). Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
What an example of trust we learn in the story of Job, a man who lost everything dear to him only to have a wife who said to curse God and die all of which through such a time Job retained his trust in God! (Job 1:18-22….2:910). While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
Jesus tells us that even if we have faith as small as a mustard seed any mountain can be removed, but as the disciples learned with rebuking a demon from a certain child that it was by prayer and fasting for their faith was a unbelief. (Matthew 17:17-21).
Faith (Trust) is vital in the life of the Believer, for without it its impossible to please God! (Hebrews 11:6). But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
