Unity in Spirit is so important to preach the gospel of Christ, for when the Holy Spirit descended the day of Pentecost they were all of one accord and had all things common. (Acts 2:1-4). HIS Spirit allows us to have the mind of Christ. (Philippians 2:1-2, 5). If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
The flesh mind wars against the Spirit of God, it keeps us thinking of sin more than the righteousness of God and only Christ can deliver us from its clutches by true repentance on our part. (Romans 7:23-25). But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
It is by the renewing of our minds and washing of regeneration do we become disciples and servants if the Lord. We are all in the same boat when it comes to sin, but by the love and kindness shown us by God we are able to become free from its bondage and become anew! (Titus 3:3-7). For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
The old Covenant has come and gone, but the new one has God putting HIS laws upon our hearts and minds. (Hebrews 8:10).
