We are all born into the world and soon learn of its ways, and our Lord and Saviour Jesus was as well but had a predestined purpose which He was only twelve years old and knew by the Holy Spirit to be about His Fathers business. (Luke 2:40-49). And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day’s journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
How many today live for the next new car, bigger house, or earn even more and more money to feel as though they have arrived at the status the world values as “You have made it”. We are as the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland being busy who said: “I’m late, I’m late, for a very important date, no time to say hello goodbye……… I’m late, I’m late, I’m late …………. Are we setting our sights on things daily? Or are we going about our Fathers business to be a difference we hope to see in the world? Are we renewing our minds and therefore through us the world is seeing what is good and acceptable to God? (Romans 12:2). And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
There are many gifts given to us by the grace of God, are we allowing Him to work His will through us? Or only tending to things that are not promoting the Kingdom of God for the betterment of the world? The old way of life needs to be left behind after repenting and never look back, but forward to the renewing of our minds set on serving Christ. (Romans 12:5-9) So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good…… (Ephesians 4:17-25).
