An example for all time……….
There are many lessons and examples given us throughout scripture for our good, and the telling of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah allows us to see what happens when a people decide to live outside of the righteous ways of God unto the sinful nature of man.(Jude 1: 7-8). Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
God is a God of righteous judgment and expects those who follow Him to live a just life, for Zion where only righteousness will dwell one day will be a city that has been redeemed with judgment. (Isaiah 1:26-28).
The world has turned a blind eye to the instruction God has given for the protection of man. (Deuteronomy 30:15-20). Just as Sodom and Gomorrah thought it was fine to practice sodomy we live in a land that has passed a law to protect what is an abomination in the sight of God! (Genesis 19:24,25). Are we in this generation above the laws God has set forth to protect us? This vile and strange flesh acceptance will be rewarded no different than it was in the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. (Romans 1:26-32). For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
How many will think God would never reward a person for the sin of choice, but scripture tells us plainly of the Blessings and curses in Deuteronomy chapter 28 and how His covenant He made with man He does not take turning from Him lightly. Sodom and Gomorrah have been left as an example for us to see how in His anger He overthrew for such rebellion against His pure and Holy ways. (Deuteronomy 29:22-27). So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the Lord hath laid upon it; And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger? Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt: For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them: And the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:
