” Forgiveness Frees Us “

Jesus healed the afflicted wherever He went, and we see the importance of faith when at the home of Simon a woman who was a sinner brought an alabaster box and sat at Jesus’ feet weeping. Simon’s mindset did not line up with Jesus teaching of forgiveness as all he could point out was how she was a sinner! Jesus goes on to explain how with much love the woman was repentant as she washed His feet with her tears and anointed His head with oil…….. things Simon was not noticing. The woman was made whole by the faith she had in the Lord. (Luke 7:37-39……44-50).  And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.  And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

It is human nature to think some things are so bad God has turned His face away, but Jesus always gave hope, mercy, and kindness even in the face of opposition…….. DO WE?

  1. Dear Julia,
    This post is most excellent.

All the “inner healing” issues could be dealt with swiftly and surely if Christians would only FORGIVE those who wronged them… or even, those whom they THOUGHT had wronged them. [ Truly, it makes no difference because the same UN-forgiveness towards anyone else — whether the hurt is real or imaginary — wreaks the same havoc in the soul of the injured one. ]

Our LORD JESUS CHRIST heals us AS WE WALK in forgiveness towards others. And then, as we seek to do them good… in thought, word, and action. In the NAME of JESUS we DO have the power to forgive and HE+ strengthens us to do so.

Then, Our Precious LORD heals us and fills us with His+ Complete JOY !

Yes, when we forgive others, we become FREE .

Another thought: WHO among us has not dealt out hurt to others, ourselves ?

We have hurt Our LORD deeply with our sin, haven’t we ?

We have hurt Our LORD JESUS when we ignore His+ Words and go our own, willful way, haven’t we all ?

Furthermore, our sins have deeply wounded those closest to us, also.

Yes, by all means, let us FORGIVE OTHERS as quickly as it comes to mind that we are holding something against them.

    Good post, dear Sister !

  2. Sr.Judith Hannah……… Your comment has covered all avenues of just how forgiveness is so important, and how freeing it can be when we harbor ill feelings towards others. As you say it hurts the Lord when we do not seek Him or read His word. You’ve shed a light on how destructive not forgiving is. God Bless You Dear Sister for giving hope to others.
