Scripture tells us of a time when not only the earth, but the heavens as well shall be shaken before the return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! We do not have to look far to see the many changes the earth is going through with the massive flood in Louisiana, the fires in California and the most recent earthquake in Rome. All are the signs scripture teaches will come to pass. Yet with all the shaking what manner of person will you be if all materials things were taken? Now is the time for turning to the Lord and not from Him.(2 Peter 3:10-14).
Now is the time to be stedfast in the Lord, and repent of any sin for the Lord is merciful and is a stronghold in times of trouble! Stay strong in Him and do not be shaken, for many will fall away from the faith which is our saving grace. Cling to the truth that you have been called to in Christ, and be not taken by the deceivableness of unrighteousness.(2 Thessalonians 2:1,2,7-14). Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Both Paul and Job understood the loss of all things, but knew to look ahead and not behind where they gained their strength in total reliance on God!(Philippians 3:7-14), But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.(Job 1:21,22).
Only that which cannot be shaken will remain!(Hebrews 12:25-29). See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.
