It is written those who preach the gospel should live of the gospel, but do we? (1 Corinthians 9:14).Are we who bear the name Christian practice what we preach? (Romans 2:21-23). Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
Does the way we are living our life reflect the saviour that we are serving? There is nothing wrong with standing back to see if we are setting a good example before others as we are taught to do. Jesus lived by example and we see this in the lesson of washing the disciples feet and how although He was Lord and master He was also a servant (John 13:12-17). So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.
