For anyone to think it is by our own hand that causes us to prosper and not acknowledging all things come from God,it is only a matter of time till we learn how it is to be abased.Jesus taught this great lesson of the pharisee and the publican (Luke 18:9-14). 9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
God knows what we have need of even before we do,and when we rely on Him then even if we suffer need or we abound in much that all is within His will (Philippians 4:11-13), 11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (1 Timothy 6:6-8).
Job knew not to deny God and that all things come from His hands!(Job 31:24-28). 24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.
