A conscience is a good thing to have,for without one our fate would surely be a road of destruction. If we have a conscience to follow that which is right and honest then we have a sense of comfort in knowing God is pleased in the choices we have made.A good conscience towards God is more important than to do what is wrong so we are accepted into the worlds mold (1 Peter 3:12-22). ¹² For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.¹³ And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?¹⁴ But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;¹⁵ But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:¹⁶ Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.¹⁷ For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.¹⁸ For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:¹⁹ By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;²⁰ Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.²¹ The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:²² Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

Our conscience is a gift from God that allows us to know right from wrong.A very good example of how our conscience can convict us is found in the gospel of John when the scribes and pharisees thought it was a good idea to put a woman who was caught in adultery in front of Jesus as though they were free of all sin!(John 8:1-11). Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.² And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.³ And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,⁴ They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.⁵ Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?⁶ This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.⁷ So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.⁸ And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.⁹ And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.¹⁰ When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?¹¹ She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
