There are very serious changes and trends happening in America. We’ve written about this before. And those watching already know. But there is a growing number of Americans who have transformed into the most selfish, self centered, narcissistic, hateful and even vile people. The all about me generation has morphed into something resembling what we fear, “the worst generation.” The generation who saw WWll was called the “greatest generation.” A Nation came together in great economic distress and the sorrows of war. So what happened? How have we turned into this selfish egotistical society? The church resembles zombies or the walking dead. Don’t believe us? Next time you got to a restaurant that has a buffet simply watch. It’s very disturbing. You will see shoving and rudeness; it resembles starving people from third world countries. And the grocery stores are not much better. People stare blankly, even appearing to be soul dead. There is no life or light in their eyes. We are supposed to be, as Christians the light on the hill, or the salt of the earth. I fear we have lost our salt. We blame technology. Watch people driving or walking. Hard to count the number without phones in their faces. Children no longer play or interact normally, they don’t know how. Life is measured by how many friends, followers and likes you have on social media. Look at the bizarre selfies and you will see what we care about.
Self centeredness and selfishness is taught to our children by example.
Gluttony is taught by example to an entire generation. What is gluttony?
“Gluttony means over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or wealth items. In Christianity, it is considered a sin if the excessive desire for food causes it to be withheld from the needy. “(Wikipedia)
Is it a sin? Jesus warned about it distracting us from what’s important and His second coming.
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting (gluttony) and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
And God won’t bless the glutton:
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
I think it’s safe to say that gluttony, and greed leads to sin.
And we are teaching this by example. Venezuelans are starving as are many African and Eastern and Middle Eastern Nations, and as Americans we care about none of that. Our youth protest and complain, many of our sports teams disrespect our flag or National Anthem. Complaining is the norm now. Gluttony and greed and the “all about me” attitude reigns supreme. People are as prophesied and have fallen into satans trap.
2 Timothy 3
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Wow, Paul was given a vision of us. We have been warned.
We can little by little see God being pushed out of the lives of many. Gone are the days of innocence and a sense of God being called upon when tragedy strikes. Instead people put their faith in places such as the government and in each other.
The love of many is growing cold and we see the I, I, Me, Me mentality completely putting aside what God expects of us, such as putting off things of self and looking towards helping each other (Philippians 2:1-4).
Our day and age is looking more and more like Jesus said how it would be before His return. “And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (Matthew 24:10-13).
What can we do? Have we gone too far? It starts with us.
I Am Not Ashamed of The Gospel Of Christ. Fear of God has been removed and replaced with political correctness, itchy ear doctrine, and pastors even declaring there is no punishment for sin, no hell, no reason to listen and obey God. No reason to teach children Gods way. Pray and beg for Mercy and repentance from a sinful people.
