The Prayer Closet

Prayer is an important part of the christian life, it gives us comfort in time of need and allows us an intimate relationship with our creator.

Jesus was asked by His disciples how they should pray and to this day we pray the prayer given in Matthew 6:9-13.

Prayer can be prayed with a group or with a few, but Jesus often went to be alone to pray to His Father. We find Jesus praying very early in the morning in a quiet place away from everyone in the following passage ( Mark 1:32-35 ).32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. 34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. 35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

We get a clear picture of the importance to have a one on one conversation with our Father, as we are instructed to go to our prayer closet to pray in secret and by doing so we will be rewarded openly ( Matthew 6:5-8 ).
