From the very beginning God has given man guidelines to go by so things go well for him. In the garden there was the tree of good and evil and with man given free will to choose unfortunately chose wrong. This caused the curse to enter the earth, and it will not be removed till Christ returns. It could have been so much better for man had the warning to not eat of the tree of good and evil been heeded!(Revelation 22:1-3) 1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him. (Genesis 3:13-19).
God chose Moses to deliver the ten commandment’s unto the people, and we are expected to keep them even to this day for our own good. We are warned not to serve other god’s as He says He will visit the iniquity of man through the third and fourth generation of those who hate Him. But He will show mercy unto those who love and keep His commandment’s (Exodus 20:3-6) 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Although it is a very good thing to give to the poor, and that is exactly what God wants us to do, we are warned not to broadcast our giving as we sadly see at times especially at the holidays with so many organizations and people on the news telling of all they have given to different people and places, the Lord says they have their reward (Matthew 6:1-4).
God warned Noah to build an ark with no rain in sight, and he with fear moved to build it and by heeding Gods warning he saved himself and his family! (Hebrews 11:6,7) 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. 7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Even the wise men for their own protection heeded the warning from God in a dream to not return to Herod after seeing the Christ child, and returned to their country a different way as instructed (Matthew 2:7-12).
