Jesus said he would never leave us nor forsake us, so why when the storms of life hit we seem to lose sight of his presence in our trouble? We as humans go by what we see and to not visibly see something or someone how can we believe in the hope of their help? This is where our faith (Trust) needs to be strengthened and believe that the word we read can be counted on no matter what! (Hebrews 11:1,6) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We can have peace in the midst of the storms of our life as we learn when the sea was with great tempest, yet Jesus was sleeping. The disciples like many would ask where is God in all this and the answer once again is Faith. (Matthew 8:23-27). And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
We always want a sure thing because the effect is that what we want to happen will. God is a Spirit and our help then is of a spiritual nature and this is the way God intervenes in the life of the believer. (Romans 8:25-28). But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Christ died and has become our mediator to make intercession for us to God the Father. (Hebrews 7:24,25). But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
There is no other anchor for our souls in this life than the hope we find in Christ our Lord!!!!!
Very true. There is no other anchor for our souls … and He IS an anchor in those fearful, troubling times.
Amen! He is our All in All! God Bless You.
