THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER gods BEFORE ME. THOU SHALT NOT MAKE UNTO THEE ANY GRAVEN IMAGE, OR ANY LIKENESS OF ANY THING THAT IS IN HEAVEN ABOVE, OR THAT IS IN THE EARTH BENEATH, OR THAT IS IN THE WATER UNDER THE EARTH. (Exodus 20:3,4)………….

 We are told from God at the very beginning of time not to look to wood and stone as a way of serving him. It is an idol in the eyes of God and there is no knowledge found in it as God is infinite in wisdom and we are to look solely to Him and Him alone! Many throughout the generations as Moses, Aaron,Isaiah and others did well by placing their faith in God just as we do today by faith. “What profiteth the graven image  that the maker thereof  hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it, But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him”.(Habakkuk 2:18-20).

 Many still think idolatry does not exist in the world today as they say it was back in biblical times, well sadly it still does exist as we are in Gods biblical plan. China still worships the cow as many generations ago it was done and yes! It is still idolatry in the eyes of God.  “And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let them that sacrifice kiss the calves. Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney. Yet I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for their is no saviour beside me”.(Hosea 13:2-4).

 Way back in the book of Exodus man was told to not have any steps which go up to the altar, nor build with hewn (cut) stone or it would be considered polluted. Now take a moment and think of the many churches of today does any altar man has built have a step to get up to the altar? or if the building is of brick or hewn stone? We know satan is the father of all deceptions, yet God who is true tells us to look to Him and follow in righteousness for He is the Rock of the ages from which we are hewn from! (Exodus 20:22-26).

 It does not matter how many generations have come and gone, for God has told us how He wants to be worshipped. Man has branched off today just as he always has and chose to worship God in a way that does not honor Him. Proverbs teaches us the righteous may fall and will rise again, but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Remember God said He does not change, nor does the way we are to serve and worship Him does. (Proverbs 24:16-21).
