We are living in a time that as they say history repeats itself, it looks as though the recession and hard time of so many years ago has prominently returned, but this time the President and our leaders do not have God in the forefront as Lincoln did when he made sure prayer was kept over the people. Prophesy is more in line with the written word than ever before! It used to be a time to be called a Christian was held in high regard. People are now trying ways to fit Jesus into their lives than to have themselves in Christ. We are very much in the time when there is a famine in the land which is not of food, but of hearing the word of God! Amos 8:11-12). Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it.
It is so important to know the Lords way, and even in famine of any kind will the Lord God keep His people from harm. (Psalm 33:18-22) Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
How many people live their life without God until they are in trouble and then they call upon him for help? Or say Lord if you get me out of this I will serve you. God is a just God and will help, yet many return to their ways that got them into trouble and it becomes a vicious circle of events. The time will come that unless a life was lived solely under the obedience of God that He will not be found by those who use Him for a time and then go back to doing wrong. If people leave God out of their lives, He says He will reward the people for the rejecting of his way, just as He did when He indicted Israel. (Hosea 4:6,9) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because they have rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
We see more and more the water systems going bad in our country and elsewhere and we are now at some places buying our water, but the true famine of all will be in the final days where faith will be most important and total reliance on God will show forth as the people will not be able to buy or sell. (Revelation 13:16-18). But in those days God will give His people knowledge and will not leave them without for their trust in Him will provide all they need! (Isaiah 55:1-3). Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Dear people of God fret not because our Father in heaven knows the needs of His people who trust in Him!(Revelation 3:18) I council thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and annoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see. The true kingdom of God is not food and drink, but the wine (Blood of Christ) and his body (bread of life) will suffice and God will provide no matter what! Remember the raven that fed Elijah guided by God why would He not be able to provide for His people in the end? He is the same God! (1 Kings 17:2-6) And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brookChe’-rith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Che’-rith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and fish in the morning, and bread and fish in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

Many read the Word of God but few HEAR. Faith comes by hearing His voice in the Word. Obedience sharpens the ability to hear.
“For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.”
Even though the scriptures were read every Sabbath it profited them nothing.
The religious mind cannot comprehend the things of the Spirit of God.
Always enjoy your posts.
The weight of your writing here says so much. As you wrote: “Even though the scriptures were read every Sabbath it profited them nothing.
The religious mind cannot comprehend the things of the Spirit of God.”
This alone covers the way sooooo many serve God on a weekly and not Daily basis. The true Sabbath has been moved to a sunday day of worship.
When the disciples asked how should they pray our Lord replied “Give us this DAY our DAILY bread, not weekly. We must partake of the spiritual bread daily to preserve our life. To this day God still adds to His church DAILY not weekly as He always has. ( Acts 2:47).
May Gods Love and Grace shower you.
P.S. I too enjoy your writings!
Good essay! History does indeed repeat itself. Sometimes twice in a lifetime.
I find it rather strange that some people want to make a deal with the Lord after the “if” fact they have already in fact made one with the devil. Paths are chosen, not bargined for!
