If we would stand back and see just how vast God is it is hard to comprehend that He has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, and even weighs the mountains in scales! How can we not reverence such majesty? Yet to Him the nations are a drop in a bucket and are as dust in His sight. (Isaiah 40:12-17). Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
The scales of injustice are dipping deeply toward such a judgment from God that He will not stay his hand from pouring His wrath out upon the ungodly. It is easy for some to get puffed up with pride, yet the actions we choose will all be weighed by Him one day. (1 Samuel 2:2,3).There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
For all who truly love the Lord this wrath is nothing they fear, as He has said He will keep His people from the hour of temptation and for the elect’s sake will He shorten their days. (Revelation 3:10,11), Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.(Matthew 24:22).
No one wants to think God would ever be so angry He would pour out wrath, but how long is He suppose to look upon evil and wickedness some have chose over Him without stepping in to say ENOUGH?! To those who worship the beast and receive his mark then God who is righteous is left to carry out His will, and herein shows the patience of the saints who do His commandments. (Revelation 14:9-13).
Many do not realize that a lot of the sayings we use today are taken out of scripture, and so it is with the saying “The writings on the wall”. Taken from the book of Daniel we see King Belshazzar who had a dream no one could enterpret except Daniel in which the holy spirit dwelt. King Belshazzar learned his ways were weighed in the balances by God and on that very day he died because of it!
The Handwriting on the Wall
(Daniel 5:17-31) Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation. O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour: And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down. But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will. And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this; But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified: Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written. And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
A timely word for this hour. God’s Judgments are pure and He sees all.
“Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.” Zeph. 2:3
Wise words for us all.
