How Great A Love

God shows the extent of His love in the person of Christ the one who is the propitiation for our sins. Our Lord is the Shepherd of the sheep, and His sheep only follow the voice they know as His and they will not follow a strangers. (John 10:1-5).  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

Out of love for us Christ died, and for this act of love we as Christians live our life by the faith we place in the Son of God. (Galatians 2:20).  I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Before we came to Christ we lived in disobedience and served various lusts and may of even been hateful, but by the love and kindness of our Saviour we are saved by His grace. (Titus 3:3-7). For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

The holy spirit God has given allows us to experience the vastness of His love! (Romans 5:5-8) And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  1. Those who pick up their cross and follow the Lord fear not the first death, for their confidence (faith) in Christ’s sacrafice assures them salvation from the second death. The second death is eternal!

    • Very good point, as many believe we just die and that is all that happens. They are not aware of the thousand year reign with the Lord and after the Great white throne judgment there is a second and final death. Stay strong!
