Faith is another word for HOPE and when we put our faith in Christ we are assured of all His promises made to us. We are saved by HOPE and it is the faith in the unseen that we with patience and the Holy Spirit make intercession if ever we be overwhelmed. (Romans 8:24-28). For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Scripture teache us Jacob/Israel is Gods chosen people, and happy are those who put their trust and HOPE in the God of Jacob (Psalm 146:1-5) Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God. (Psalm 105:6-10).
God will one day shake the heavens and the earth and the day will come when the great harvest of the earth will take place, but the Lord will be the HOPE of His people at that time! (Joel 3:13-17). Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
Even if we are terminally ill, as a Christian we know eternal life with Christ is far better than any suffering endured here on earth. We are the sheep of His fold and know His voice, for He is our HOPE now and for all eternity! (John 10:27-30). My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.
“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil…” Love the words “sure and steadfast”!
