The Church And Ministry Of Christ

There was a time when man was directed by God to build a temple to worship in. The ministry Christ came and obtained for us is built on better promises and unlike the old covenant which served wood and stone His new covenant would put the laws of God into our mind and be written on the heart’s of His people! (Hebrews 8:6-10) But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

Our Lord is the Chief Cornerstone of a Spiritual Church which God has chosen and man has rejected. His church is made up of living stones, which are the people who love and serve Him!(1 Peter 2:4-10) To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

From early on man has done opposite of what God has asked of him on how He is to be worshipped. The very first Commandment we are given tells us not to make a graven image or any image of stone, yet when we look around today there are so many images of worship as Buddha, the sacred cow of India, and statues innumerable as we see man continues to cling to beliefs that are not set forth by God. Shall not God be avenged on a nation that has chosen to turn from Him unto strange gods and idols? (Jeremiah 5:19,28-31). And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the Lord our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not your’s.  They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge. Shall I not visit for these things? saith the Lord: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

People truly are like sheep led astray as they follow easily without questioning why they worship the way they do? Many have grown up being taken to an hour service only to return in a week. A WEEK? Does not scripture teach us “Give us this day our daily bread”. Do you eat once a week? Our Lord is known as the bread of life, and He adds to His church daily those who are saved! (Acts 2:44-47) And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

How many rules and regulations are found in the churches of today just as they were in Jesus’ day in the temple with the pharisees and sadducees!  Jesus tried to tell them how on the Sabbath day His disciples were not doing anything unlawful by eating the corn on the sabbath and asked them if they had read what David did when he was hungry and ate the shewbread that was for the priests. (Matthew 12:1-5). The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. (Mark 2:27,28). Our Lord taught a very important lesson of how He was greater than the very temple they were standing in! (Matthew 12:6-8) But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple. But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

If the word says Christ is not entered into Holy places made with hands, I believe it. (Hebrews 9:24). If the word says that by His Spirit we are of the household of God and have access to God our Father by it, I believe it. (Ephesians 2:18-22). If the word says we are the temple of the living God and we are His building, I believe it (1 Corinthians 3:9,16,17).

If we are in Christ we know that through the spirit we have been made new, and God has given us the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:17-19) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

  1. Jesus came to reconcile each one of us to himself and the Father. He wants us to commune with him all the time. He lives inside of us and wants a personal relationship not one of a short time each week. It is a growing relationship where we get to know him better in the Word and listen to his voice and follow him, always! Blessings to you, Julia!

    • You could not of given better scripture that the worlds church hides behind, as they blindly teach!!!!
Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. What Defiles a Person  And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:  Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.  Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?   But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
May strength and peace be yours.
