May Be Fun, But Not Of God

The word plainly tells us that sorcery, witchcraft, magic, and any other lying deception’s that amazes the crowds and takes them in as though it is just an innocent sleight of the hand, but it is from the pit of hell to practice such things as none of it brings honor to God Almighty! This was just viewed recently as I watched a popular talent show that had two left standing which one was a beautiful woman who could sing like an angel and the other a young man that did magic trick’s………..sad to say the magic act won. People are bewitched and taken in, an the only time this will all end is when Christ returns to show things for what they are. (Revelation 18:23-24) And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Many people are slain by the innocent acts of magic fun as though it were not harmful, and for those who do not care what happens to their soul in the end of their life will find these unpleasing acts against God fun! As a christian it is by the Holy Spirit of discernment that guides one into the truth so they are not taken in. Since people believe all this not an abomination to God they are not aware that such matters God will judge severely and will come near to those who do not fear him and his just ways that are best for us. (Malachi 3:5) And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

We have a wonderful example of just how wrong it is to dabble with what the word says is familiar spirits (mediums) or use witchcraft by the story of Manasseh who did such things and worked evil among the people. (2 Chronicles 33:1-2-6-9) Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem: But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel. And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.

Just in case one still feels all this type of activity is harmless, it gets no clearer how it is an abomination to God himself when we read Deuteronomy 18:10-14. There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.

  2. Amen! What most people do not realize is that magic tricks are so easy to do on TV. Cheap camera tricks are dime a dozen! Eggs a quite a bit more expensive. Ha! LOLGB+
