Long before the first tabernacle was even built how did people worship God? And how did God communicate with man? God is a jealous God (Deuteronomy 4:23,24) and He does not hesitate to tell us in the commandments we are not to set up graven images of any kind, yet across the land we see many images and statues still today.

 Moses did not settle for that God was up on a mountain and far away, but when the angel of the Lord appeared in a flame of fire to him in a bush that was not consumed he suddenly found himself standing on Holy ground in the very presence of God! There was no building surrounding Moses when God interacted with Him. (Exodus  3:2-6).  And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.

 We are told today to not harden our hearts as the Israelites did when God guided them through the wilderness even after seeing many miracles. God interacts with man as He always has and as some may call it their conscience His still small voice speaks to us even today, and He still tabernacles with us as His sanctuary is in heaven. (Psalm 102:19)  For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the Lord behold the earth. (Psalm 27:4,5)  One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

 Christ is our high priest in the earth and is now seated at the right hand of God our Father! We who are the called and redeemed are of His household which He bought with His own shed blood! (Hebrews 3:1-6) Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

 We are made in His image and His word tells us we are His Temple. Man is born of fleah and blood, but when the Holy Spirit resides within the believer we are the temple of God! (1 Corinthians 3:16,17) Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. 

 Why do so many look to wood and stone when God tabernacles with us on a personal level. It is written we are the house of God and when we pass away we will still remain as His house by His Spirit. (2 Corinthians 5:1)  For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4:17).

 As the world and those without faith look to that which can be seen, it is those who have spiritual eyes who by faith believe and know where the tabernacle of God is, and in Psalm 15 we read exactly who it is that dwells in the true tabernacle of God! (Psalm 15:1-5) A Psalm of David. LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
