When you stand on a clear night and look up at the vastness of heaven at all the millions of stars who have a name, do you ever wonder where you fit into Gods plan? (Psalm 147:4)……..(Job 22:12). What is our purpose of being given the breath of life? Scripture gives us many reasons our life has purpose.
We pass through this temporary place on our way to an eternal one. We can spend our days here without the knowledge of what is lasting and enduring as the kingdom of heaven is, or gather together all we can from this life and not realize that one day it may all be taken. What would we have to hold onto and what type of person would we be if life as we know it would be drastically removed? (2 Peter 3:9-14). The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
The purpose of any one of us to of been created is for to glorify God and all that He has entrusted to us. There are many blessings in a life lived for God, yet there are many curses for living opposite of Gods will. It is an honor to serve the one who not only gave us the breath of life but has given us many blessings for obedience. (Deuteronomy 28).
Out of love God gave man the power of choice and with doing so watches to see if we truly do love and care for Him. God could have surely named all the animals on His own and then tell Adam, but instead He gave Adam a purpose to be a part of His creation by waiting to see what he would name them. (Genesis 2:19). And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
In the end it all boils down to do we love and fear God through this life, because whether we do good or evil one day every work will be before our maker. So our purpose is to follow that which is well pleasing in the eyes of God. (1 John 3:18-22). My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
We live out in the country and one of the many benefits is to look up on a clear night and see God’s awesome creation hanging in the night sky! Those billions or however many there are is something I enjoy pointing out to our children and grandchildren!! It’s a great witnessing tool, also!!!!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
And yes our purpose is to glorify God!!! No one else! Nothing else!!! I’m blessed to have had that question answered for me!!! GLORY TO GOD!!
Often when I look up unto the stars at night I am reminded that they are the same stars Abraham looked at when he received the promise from God. It is humbling to consider though Abraham is gone the stars and the promises remain…
Ever onward – ever upward – until the Daystar arises in the hearts of His own in the full glory of His presence.
Blessings to you as always,
BT
