The Prayer Of The Righteous

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. (JOHN 9:31).

For many years I believed as taught that God hears our every prayer, and it wasn’t till true repentance and meditating upon the word of God we learn it is the prayer of the righteous that is heard as God does not answer the prayer of the wicked for a reason since they are not doing His will.(1 Peter 3:10-12)  For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.  For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil….. (Proverbs 15:8,9,29)…. (Psalm 7:8-11)…..(Proverbs 21:27).

Prayers are vital to our well being, because it is a connection with God through Christ our Lord! Jesus Himself has told us how to ask and receive, and it is by loving and keeping of His commandments are we heard (John 14:13-17). And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.  If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

We find in the book of revelation it is the prayers of the saint’s that are kept in golden vials, and these are of the people who through the blood of Christ are made kings and priests which will one day reign upon the earth with Him! (Revelation 5:8-10). And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

  1. There are pangs that strike my heart with this verse… It requires a depth of relationship between the members of this true church in order for such openness where we can “confess our faults” to one another. Such relationships are rare in our day; yet this is the atmosphere, the context of our prayers becoming effectual and we see the great moving of God in our midst of His healing power.

May He produce in us a trustworthiness that will produce such humility in all that we might know of Him because we love one another.

    Blessings
