Before we come to the knowledge of the truth found in Christ we walked according to all this life had to offer, and it is by Gods grace are we saved! When we know what sin is we can then turn from what does not please God to that which does. Ask anyone who has been saved and they will not look back at their old life fondly, but see it as a time they grieved God by living outside of His will for their own pleasure ( 1 Corinthians 6:9-11) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

There is a race set before every one of us. A race of faith that through much patience we will reap the reward of a life that was lived for God and not ourselves. Jesus also knew after His life was over that He lived for His Father that He would one day spend eternity seated at His right hand (Hebrews 12:1-3) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Moses had a very good life with a grandfather who was a king until the time came when he learned the truth how he had been drawn from the Nile river as a baby and Phar’-aoh’s daughter had brought him up as her own. Sure he could have left well enough alone, but instead he chose to suffer with the people of God than to enjoy the sin Egypt held (Hebrews 11:23-29) By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible. Through faith he kept the passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them. By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
