Receive Instruction

The bible has been written for our guidance and it is the inspired word of God. It is what we as Christians need to instruct us in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16,17) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Sometimes we can get in the way of our own moving forward if we refuse to adhere to sound instruction. There is a wealth of information we can gain, but the only sound advice that truly helps comes from scripture. Those who choose the sage advice of the word and have a fear of the Lord prove God is faithful to His word. Gaining wisdom is the difference between being foolish or choosing to be wise. The proverbs of Solomon teaches us this! (Proverbs 1:3-7) To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels: To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

God is always in one way or another giving us instructions that will better our life. How many times we read in scripture of God instructing us, even at a time we may not think of as through the night! (Job 33:14-17) For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

There is comfort and hope in taking the instruction our Lord gave that we need to learn of Him, and if we are heavy laden with problems we can find rest in Him (Matthew 11:28-30). Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility (Proverbs 15:32,33) .
