Wisdom As Old As Time

The wisdom of Solomon surpassed anyone in the land as he was granted it because when God asked him what he wanted he did not ask for the life of his enemies, or for long life but only to be able to discern between good and bad and to have an understanding heart to judge the people of God. This request pleased God and he even went on to write the Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.(1 Kings 3:5,9-12). In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.  Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

In this life nothing happens to any one of us that does not happen to another, and there is no temptation that happens without God giving us a way out of it or through it. (Ecclesiastes 2:13,14)  Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness. The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all…….. (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Wisdom was with God before He even formed the earth and those who dwell upon it. True wisdom is not found in the earth, for it dwells only with God who has an understanding that is unsearchable. Sure we can gain wisdom from this life, but only the knowledge of God will endure for all eternity! (Job 28:12-13,23-28) But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding? Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living. God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof. For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven; To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure. When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out. And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

We can live our entire life gaining the wisdom of this world which is only foolishness to God, and on the other hand the world finds the wisdom of God to be foolishness to them. It is truly brilliant on Gods behalf to allow the world to think they are wise (1 Corinthians 1:25-31) Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

  1. Reading from scripture is the most soothing act, offering visions of who God truly is, and all he does to show us this love. God Bless, love… hugs

  2. Such powerful truth. Real wisdom comes only from God, and when we seek Him above all else, He gives us understanding that lasts for eternity.
All Glory to the Lord, the source of all wisdom.
