Scripture teaches that to those who overcome,shall inherit all things.So what is it that we are to overcome? If we are born again there are many things that we have left behind us of the old way of life. “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; But he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not”.(1 John 5:18).
It is the persecution of others who view us as different,because we no longer run with the old way of life. “Wherefore they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you”.(1 Peter 4:4).We need to keep our focus on the race that is set before us along with others who have chose to make Christ the center of their life and not just a part of it when convenient.
Jesus is the light of the world and many walk in the darkness.We too were of the darkness that seemed so right at the time,until God in his precious mercy reached down to meet us at our need of a Saviour.It is through spiritual eyes we now see the need to leave a path that only was leading us to the death of our soul’s.We learn that we truly do reap what we sow. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting”.(Galatians 6:7,8).
Some people have more to overcome than others,but we are strong when we lean completely on the one who can take a life leading to death and make it fit for an Eternal Kingdom worth fighting for! “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me”.
(Philippians 4:13). The one we are putting complete trust in knows exactly what it means to overcome,for he has overcome the world. “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”.(John 16:33)
There is nothing we cannot overcome when we walk with God. Jesus tells us that to those of us who overcome as he did and keep his works will be given power over the nations,just as he received of his Father. “And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers; even as I received of my Father”. (Revelation 2:26,27).
God protects his children and you can put all your trust in him,for he is Faithful that promised! No one stands alone with God and can overcome anything! His way is not popular to the world,but we are not of the world and are separated to do a work for the one that has equipped us to do so. “Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever”.(Psalm 73:25,26)
