“Children of God VS. Children of the World”

Many can atest to being with a crowd of people who claim to be christian and that they Love the Lord Jesus, only to hear them talk endlessly of the world’s ways and you feel a wall go up for you have nothing in common. This is what happens when we turn to Christ and dedicate our life to following him and leave the ties of the world behind to gain the true riches of his kingdom. “They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. Beloved let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love”.

(1 John 4:5-8).

Jesus plainly said if people are of God they will hear his word. The world hears it’s own and their ears are attentive to it’s ways. When Jesus spoke to the people and they did not understand his words,it was because they sought to kill him for the truth he was speaking of his Father and he told them they were following the way of their father the devil! “Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not”(John 8:42-45).

When Jesus was in the wilderness and tempted of the devil,it is important to see that satan is well aware of what would tempt Jesus the most at a time when he had just fasted forty days and was hungry and said if ye are the Son of God command the stones to be made bread. Too many people blame God when their tempted and lose sight that satan knows your weakness and when tempted steer you away from God when they really should be turning to God. This is how clever the devil is and keeps a person in the world feeling helpless and without hope. To be a child of God we must know that this is a temporary place and Jesus is our only way back to God to an eternal home and all this world has to offer is nothing compared to what God has prepared for those who serve him. “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God”.(1 Corinthians 2:9,10).

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.(1 John 2:15-17).
