“Dumb…..Deaf…..Blind”

Would God ever say such words? We are told early in scripture when Moses tried his best and God wanted him to speak his words that it is the Lord who has made all things including the dumb, deaf, and blind. “And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither herefore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say”.(Exodus 4:10-12).

We read many times how Jesus healed the blind or of one who had a dumb spirit, for this was the whole purpose our Saviour came to the earth. He came to seek and to save those who were lost. If one remains blind to his truth or remain in darkness it is our choosing to deny such salvation from all frailty of man. “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an heart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert”.
 (Isaiah 35:3-6).
We are to speak up for the less fortunate that are not able to speak for themselves for whatever reason. “Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy”.(Proverbs 31:8,9).
The people knew of the power that Jesus carried within him when they brought the deaf and dumb before him to be healed! “And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him. And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue; And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Eph-pha-tha, that is Be opened. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well: he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak”.(Mark 7:32-37).
The longer we live the more we become aware of just who truly does Love the Lord and who is our enemy and also of the cross of Christ. There are times we choose to stay silent for even Jesus did the same. “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth”.(Isaiah 53:7). “And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly”.(Matthew 27:12-14).
It is written there is a time to speak up and a time to stay silent. “A time to rend (tear), and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak”.(Ecclesiastes 3:7).”To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven”.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). “They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. But I as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs. For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God”.(Psalm 38:12-15).
Whether we speak or choose to stay silent the Believer is fully aware that all their true help comes from God! “And now, Lord, what wait I for?  my hope is in thee” (Psalm 39:7)……………………………….
