Ever question why there are so many denominations and many ways of serving God? How can they all be right if the word denomination itself means: Division, To Nominate a name to, To give a title to. God is not divided and it is written “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement”.(1 Corinthians 1:10).
The household of God is built through the precious Holy Spirit promised to us by Jesus, and we receive that Spirit by being obedient to the word. “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him”. Our body houses his Spirit and we are built upon the foundation of the prophets and apostles and Jesus is the cornerstone of this spiritual house of God. “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit”.(Acts 5:32),(Ephesians 2:18-22).
Psalm 23 reads we have a Shepherd that is with us throughout our lives and as it says he restores our soul, as we walk through the valley of the shadow of death he is with us. We will fear no evil, because he is with us to give comfort and in the end we will dwell in the house of the Lord. “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever”.(Psalm 23:6.
So just where is the house of God? We do not have to look further than a mirror for we the people are the house of God! as it is written we are the temple of the living God. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are”.
(1 Corinthians 3:16,17).
Not many know that Christ too was an apostle and is our High Priest. “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God. But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end”.(Hebrews 2:1,4,6).
