“Trials And Persecutions”

No one likes any thing adverse in their lives, But if we truly set our mind on Christ we will suffer persecutions and have many trials all of which we do not stand alone in. The greatest sign of faith no matter what happens was taken on by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and the literal fiery furnace!  Would we be as faithful as these three and not bow to the gods of the people? We can hear the confidence they held in God as we read the following verses. “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, not worship the golden image which thou hast set up. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the forth is like the Son of God”.(Daniel 3:17,18,23-25). What a beautiful story of what faith can do!

True faith surpasses any price of precious stones, and the wisdom of God we gain through studying the word cannot be compared to the saving grace it brings to the Believer. It is almost expected when we give our life to Christ trials will soon ensue. It is at that time we learn what we’re made of and not think God has turned his back on us, but is right beside us through it all. “Beloved think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified”.(1 Peter 4:12-14).
People come to Christ and have the wrong impression there will be no more hard times and life will be forever good and no problems, it sound wonderful yet not biblical. When trials come along although uncomfortable this is the very reason Jesus said before he left he would send the comforter which is the Holy Spirit. Don’t lose sight that we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us. “Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold , we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy”.(James 5:10,11). “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”.(2 Timothy 3:12).
Even though it feels we are at a loss at times, remember the teaching of Jesus that his people are blessed who take on his way! “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you”.(Matthew 5:10-12).
