“Stones”

Stone: A Building Block, A Gem, A Piece Of Rock For A Specified Function, To Harden.

An adamant stone is of such hardened material, nothing can cause it to shatter and is compared to the strength of a diamond! When we gain knowledge of the wisdom of God it is as a precious jewel. “There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel”.(Proverbs 20:15).

Early in scripture God points out the rebellion of man, and spiritually speaking Israel is God’s inheritance. God tells Ezekiel that he is not heard by the people and he is sending him to the very same people and would harden him as an adamant (impenetratable) stone harder than flint, because of how rebellious the people are. “But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. Moreover he said unto me Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears”.(Ezekiel 3:7-10).

We are the tabernacle of God and even Job in his time knew of the strength of Gods people and that none shall make them afraid. “For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee. And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin. Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in his season. Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good”.(Job 5:23-27).

To be a stone is a great analogy of the ministry of Christ, for he is known as a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence to those who live a disobedient life. “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner. And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed”.

As man chooses to serve wood and stone Jesus will always remain as the high priest and chief cornerstone of the spiritual building he has built through the holy spirit that is given to those who obey God. “This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”.(Acts 4:11,12). “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him”.(Acts 5:32).

The story of David and Goliath shows just what a small stone in the hand of one who believes God can move any mountain in front of them by Faith as God promises his people. Goliath had no clue just how powerful the God of David was!
