A Humbling Experience — God’s Earth
For all mans sets his hand to do, he is rewarded for the labor of his work and this is a gift from God. “There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God”.(Ecclesiastes 2:24).
It is a dual effort on Gods part that he made man and continues with him as he lives out his days upon earth. It has been this way since he created man upon earth as he could have named all the animals he chose to see what Adam would name them. “And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the foul of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him”.(Genesis 2:19,20).
Job’s life show’s us just how everything comes from God as his faith never wavered even with the loss of everything! “Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly”.(Job 1:20-22).
We may plant upon this earth, but it is God who sends the rain and gives us the increase in the crops. We see this when God chastised Israel and were told to turn back to him. “And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord”.(Amos 4:7,8).
The Lord God Almighty has made everything for his pleasure, and when we stay obedient we enjoy all the blessings he has……………..”Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”.(Revelation 4:11). We are told whether we have much or little to be content with what we have, and this keeps one humble to know the earth truly is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof……………………………………….
