Go into any church building today and you will see evidence of the old covenant way of serving God. Yes Old Way Covenant for Christ died as the testator of the new testament and is now our mediator between us and God, in fact he lives to make intercession for us! (Hebrews 9:14-17), How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.(Hebrews 7:24,25).
It is not a worldly sanctuary that Christ dwells in today which holds to the old ordinances, as Christ does not dwell in temples made with hands but is the High Priest of a greater and more perfect tabernacle. (Hebrews 8:2) A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man…..(Hebrews 9:11).
Oh how upset the Jews were by Jesus reply when they asked him why he had overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple?, and on top of all that he said to tear down their temple which was forty six years in standing because he was going to rebuild it in three days! The temple he spoke of was his body, as through the Holy Spirit the many membered church is built today. (John 2:14-21). And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.
There was a strong message given us at the cross when Christ took his last breath and the veil of the temple was rent (torn) from top to bottom. (Matthew 27:50,51). Meaning with the veil removed by Christ we can now enter boldly into the holiest presence of God by his shed blood. (Hebrews 10:19-23). Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
