” The Two Will’s “

There is a spiritual struggle within us from the very day we are born and throughout our lives we are given many opportunities to live a life for God or follow our own will and as we may think it is our own way satan has painted a pretty picture that lures us into many painful situations……… Remember how he tempted Jesus that all the kingdoms of the earth could be His if He would worship him. (2 Timothy 2:24-26).  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

We may ask just how do we know what the will of God is? In the book of James we see an excellent example of what it is like to retain the wisdom of God compared to our own as Gods is pure, peaceable, gentle and many other things while ours is strife in our hearts and bitter envy at times. (James 3:13-18).  Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

What a beautiful letter Paul wrote to Timothy of understanding the mercy of our Lord who knew the importance of preaching the cross of Christ after being saved. He knew there are times when you have to say to someone you have done your best to help but they may insist on swearing or blaspheming as he tells of Hy-me-nae’-us and Alexander he delivered unto satan. We see this is to let people live in their wrong and maybe will eventually see the error of their way down the road before it’s too late. (1 Timothy 1:12-20).  And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
