How we would love to go through our life to never suffer any kind of sorrow, whether it be the loss of a loved one, receiving of bad news, or even the loss of a pet. A sorrowful event sooner or later enters all our lives, but how we handle it has everything to do with God and not the event itself that has taken place. It is our faith that carries us through the most dyer of situations and which comforts the afflicted for we serve the God of all comfort. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4). Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
We see the love of God through all that Christ went through and before He departed He made sure to let us know we are not alone and would send the comfort of the Holy Spirit. (John 14:25-27).
Aside from all we endure on a personal level if we are truly a follower of Christ we know that by serving Him we are reproached and suffer for His sake as a Christian.(1 Peter 4:12-17). Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
When we look through the eyes of faith we are more aware of our frailty, and realize all is temporary and our afflictions are but a moment compared to eternity! (2 Corinthians 4:13-18) We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen
