What will the end times look like before the Lords return

We are very fortunate to have the written word of God to help us to see and understand how the world around us will be before our Saviour returns. We first need to know with all the talks of world peace that this will be the last thing we will view! Scripture gives us a clear picture of how people will be before the time of the end, and sadly there are signs of it being mirrored in our society today (2 Timothy 3:1-7) 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Notice anything that resembles our world today? Yeah it’s uncanny how those passages read like it’s on the front page of our newspaper. There is another thing we are seeing today, and that is people are buying more and more into false doctrines some churches are spewing out of the pulpit’s that have nothing to do with the holy and pure word of God. Sadly people hear the same message week after week and get a free pass to continue in their sin by placing a few dollars in the coffer. Does this sound harsh, it sure does but not as harsh as standing in front of God and saying Lord Lord we did this in your name and that and hearing Him say to you “I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”! (Matthew 7:21-23).

No man knows the hour of our Saviours return, but for those who truly love the Lord whether it be the end of days or not we are to continue the work of the ministry we have by the grace of God been called unto, and to do the work of an evangelist by preaching the word in season and out (2 Timothy 4:1-5) 1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Before the great and terrible day of the Lord is upon us may we repent of the sin which so easily besets us, and turn to the Lord before its too late. The day of the Lord will be nothing like anything we have ever seen! (2 Peter 3:9-14).

    • Yes! Deborah Ann the blinders are off and the truth so many need has to be spoken! There are so many signs we are seeing today that just go unnoticed except to those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. Blessings to you.

  1. You are so right sister, the world will increase in evil leading up to the end of the world and the return of Christ.

And we don’t know when He will return, and we should always be living as though He will return right now.

I wrote a post a while back which describes why I believe in a post trib rapture.
It’s a secondary matter that I don’t talk about a lot, but since you have written here about end times, I present it for you for your consideration:
Here’s the link to it, (it’s titled on my blog: “the post trib rapture”)

Thank you for sharing what God puts on your heart.

  2. I have had 2 Timothy 3 on my mind all week-it has been my answer to many that are shaking their heads about things that are going on right now (things are happening fast! Or is it just me?!)

    • It’s not just you……We are seeing things moving faster due to the condition the world is in! So many things listed in 2 Timothy 3 are coming to the forefront unfolding right before our eyes. This scripture that was written so long ago has present day appearances so we are right on schedule. Just to pick out a few such as it says (Without natural affection- Todays LGBTQ has shown this come to pass)….(Despisers of those that are good…..We don’t have to look far to be persecuted for the word of God we speak)…..(Incontinent…. Which is no self control, how many riots are constantly breaking out it seems weekly as people cannot control their hatred) and the list goes on!!!!! The day is fast approaching as God will not stay His anger for man denying His righteous ways forever…….. He is longsuffering, but scripture with His Judgment day will be a reality one day so we must have a repentant heart or suffer the consequences. God Bless You Always.

  4. I don’t plan to be an earth-dweller when He returns, but rather look to the blessed hope that the Galatians were seeking, along with all the other believers in the Bible. If He has us returning with Him at His second coming, then Amen.

    • According to Gods will whether we are here on earth or have already passed we have that blessed hope of being with Him for all eternity! Thank you for this very good comment. God Bless and keep you Always.

      • Sorry, Julia. The blessed hope spoken of in the Greek texts of the Bible clearly point to a deliverance from the wrath of God to come upon this earth. If YOU plan to be here through that, then perhaps that’s your choice. Those of us who know the scriptures also know that the word of God says that the gates of Hell shall not prevail against the Church. In the Tribulation, the antichrist is given power to “overcome” the saints still here at that time. So, you wither believe the word of God, or you don’t. The choice is yours.

      • Also, the Galatians knew they would be with the Lord in eternity. That was and is a given. The blessed hope for those on this earth in the last days is the deliverance from the most horrid events this earth has ever seen, or ever will see. Demons released from the “pit” is something we will not be subjected to in this world. Dare we look at the purpose for the tribulation, it drives home even more profoundly that the blessed hope is deliverance from the wrath upon this earth that is not meant for us to endure, but only the saints who come to salvation after He has taken the Church from the earth, through whom the Restrainer works to hold back the tides of evil that will be unleashed upon the Jews and the wicked, Christ-rejecting world.

  5. Thank you for this blog post! So much truth in that many are thinking they are saved but are not. Now is the time to repent and believe in Jesus Christ. We are definitely seeing the Bible unfold before our very eyes and so many are truly deceived. Praying that many come to know salvation and turn from sin before it’s too late!

    • You are so right to say many believe they are saved and are not. Today is the day for repentance before it’s too late. Thank you for this insightful comment. God Bless and Keep you Always.
