In Moses day God thundered with a voice that shook the earth and all who assembled at the foot of mount Sinai where God spoke to Moses were instructed not to even touch the border lest they be put to death! (Exodus 19:16-20) 16 And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. 17 And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. 18 And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. 19 And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. 20 And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up.
This picture we have of the mount being on fire must have been a sight to see, Moses surely obeyed the voice of God as did those at the base of it. The world has many voices which speak to tempt us to disobey God and satisfy our flesh. The still small voice of God which some call their conscience, is there to guide and direct us to obey Him and not to take our attention away from Him. As christians we are the sheep of His pasture, and although the world will label one who has truly heard from God, it is well worth obeying Him over aworld which is set on destruction. (John 10:27,28) 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Can we believe God will speak to us today as He did throughout many generations before us? Fortunately the answer is a resounding yes! (Hebrews 3:7-13) 7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. 10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. 11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.) 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Praise God He has sent us His only begotten Son who is the mediator of the new covenant, whose voice still calls His people to Him today ……. a voice we should obey by the Holy Spirit He promised to all who repent and believe on Him (Hebrews 12:24-29).
God has provided us with the best guidance to live a life that is pleasing to Him, by the Holy Spirit we have the ability to know what is the heart of God (John 16:13-15).
Amen… in addition to your Hebrews 12 verses, 12-23!

Beautiful post. The sweet voice of our Savior! 🙌
John 10:1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 6This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
Very Good passages to show us unless we know the voice of the Lord we may be taken from His fold. Praise God He knows our name and we do not answer to a stranger. Great point Cathy HIS SWEET VOICE and there is not a voice on earth as kind as His. Many Blessings over you.
