The Will Of God

We know since the Garden of Eden man has had free will and that freedom to choose brought sin into the world. Our greatest hope now is that our Lord and Saviour is known as the second Adam born of the Holy Spirit that brings salvation to every soul that turns to him through repentance and therefore having eternal life through faith in him! “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept (Died). For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive”.(1 Corinthians 15:20-22).

So if we know salvation has come through Christ the second Adam, is this the will of God for our life? “For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel (body) in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence (Personal Desire), even as the Gentiles which know not God”.(1 Thessalonians 4:2-5).

Jesus did not want us to miss the importance of knowing the Fathers will for our life, because no matter how well we thought we did in our own way it will only be those who did the Fathers will if we know it that will be able to enter the door to heaven. “Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity”.(Matthew 7:21-23). We see here the importance of learning the will of God and to keep from serving the sins of iniquity.

Jesus always knew what his Fathers will was and often spoke it, and we are told exactly what the will of god is so as to not follow it would mean a persons free will has chose to live opposite what is pleasing to God. “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient towards all men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it”.(1 Thessalonians 5:14-24).

We know that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, but did you know that we as well are begotten through the word of God. Just as Christ is the firstfruit we too are also by following the truth of the word. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures”.(James 1:17,18). Now that we know what the will of God is let’s serve him as he asks us, and be a holy living sacrifice set apart to be a servant and renew our minds as we perform his will and not ours. “I BESEECH you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.(Romans 12:1,2).
