There are many books written God will open, even before the one many know about which is the book of life. We find a most beautiful book written of those who loved and feared the Lord as they lived their life, and He calls this a book of remembrance. (Malachi 3:16-18) When they that feared the Lord spoke often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that sereth God and him that sereth him not.
We see in the old testament by the prophesy of Daniel that God would deliver his people that are written in the book of life. (Daniel 12:1-3) And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
We find that only the Lord has the power as to who will be written in or taken out of the book of life. We learn this knowledge from Moses when he was so upset that the people had built a golden calf to worship as he asked to be blotted out of the book written. He was told it was not up to him, but whosoever sinned against the Lord will be blotted out! (Exodus 32:31-33) And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin–; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the Lord said unto Moses, whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
It is written not just one book, but books are opened and this clearly tells us God is not a God afar off but is forever keeping an eye on things in the earth. “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works”.(Revelation 20:10-12).
We need to repent of any sin we have not repented of before it’s too late. God is rich in forgiveness when we turn to him and he will blot out any and all sin if we go before him and are humbled enough to leave our sinful life and serve him with a contrite spirit! Psalm 34:14-18).
There is nothing worse than to hear the words of our Lord say “Get away from me I never knew you”. Is your name written in the book of life?
This must surely be the call to the world today. I have a blog written about the same thing. Haven’t published it yet. God is good.
