The Problem With One Sided Religion

God has made and equipped us with all emotions that He and His Son too encompass. The problem with teaching God is Love only (Which He is) and not all of what scripture tells us keeps people away from what God loves and yes even at time hates. To preach the “God is love theme” only at sermons leaves out the whole character of who God really is! It is only allowing people to know half of who our creator is. If we only hear the love side of God then if we have the emotion of being afraid, or feel hate when something we know God would not like then it does not help an individual at all, for they would have misplaced fear and hate. The full gospel teaches we are to hate the evil and wickedness of this world for even God says it will not be in heaven, because only righteousness will dwell there! (Psalm 97:9,10) For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods. Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Our Lord had the emotion of loving His friend Lazarus just as we too love our friends, but when our Lord went into the temple of His day we see He did not have a loving reaction to those who were selling doves! (Matthew 21:12,13) And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.

If God and Christ tell of things they love and hate should not we do the same if we be followers of them?  Should we like the sins committed against us if even God and Christ said not to accept it?  (Amos 5:14,15) Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph. People lose sight that our Lord came to the earth for the very promise of bringing righteous judgment into it! (John 9:39) And Jesus said, For judgement I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.

The day is coming when there will be a great falling away of unbelievers, and at that time God will send strong delusion over a people who will not accept the truth of His word so that they may be saved! (2 Thessalonians 2:9-11) Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie.

How about God? Is there passages that best describe what God loves and hates? At the giving of the ten commandments God displays jealousy, mercy and love. (Exodus 20:3-6) Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

So to be constantly told one side of God and leave the other side of him out we are living a life not in line with the word as God has asked us to do as Christians who are following Him. So let’s love what He loves and hate what He hates…….God clearly outlines for each and every one of us what is expected. (Zechariah 8:16,17) These are the things that ye shall do; speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbor; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.

God is a God of love and yes even hate, for He truly is a righteous and fair God in the earth! Therefore the one sided religion does not apply to anyone who genuinely loves and follows the Lord.

 (Proverbs 6:16-19)

  1. “God is love” To know what love is, God’s love, we must know Him in order to understand His love.

Religion tends to present a God made in their likeness according to their own designs.

“Whom the lord loves… He disciplines” The love of the Father is parental not the sloppy foolish love presented in much of the gospel today. He is intent upon His likeness being revealed in His children.

    Always enjoy the share!

    • You are so right as to religion presenting God in their own design and likeness. As written by the hand of God “HAVE NO STRANGE GODS BEFORE ME” There is no faith when some need to see and not just believe! Stay strong in the Lord.

  3. Amen! God is not a philosophy nor a theology, for theology is the philosophy of religion. (Col. 2:8 & English Dictionary) God is a reality!! From the Big Bang (Job 38:6-7) to the New Heavens and Earth. (Rev. 21:1) The Scripture of Truth is relative!! (Dan. 10:21) LOLGB+
