In this day and age children have power over the parent’s by saying to authorities they are being abused, when discipline that is biblical and needed is thrown out the window. It is written a child needs training and guidance. (Proverbs 22:6) Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 19:18 ).
When we are young and our parents teach us of the Lord, little do we know at that time it is knowledge that has the power to save our soul (2 Timothy 3:14-17) But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
It is out of love for us that God chastens His children just as a man would chasten his own son. (Deuteronomy 8:5-6). We have fathers of the flesh but it is of greater purpose for us to be chastened of the Father of Spirits for it allows us to live now and forevermore! Although it is not joyous at the time to be reprimanded it brings forth the fruit of righteousness. (Hebrews 12:9-11). Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
Others may have been told the same thing growing up as I did when being disciplined, and although it made no sense at the time it has taught me right from wrong. My mother would say before grounding me that it hurt her more than it did me. Just as parents loved and cared for us, so does God out of love rebuke and chasten His children. (Revelation 3:19-22). As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
There are times in this life we have to out of genuine love for another remove ourselves and place them into Gods hands, and it is this tough love God understands that we must withdraw ourselves from a situation so that they may call upon God in their distress. Although it hurts us we must remember God knows what is best even when we do not understand His plan for our life. (Hebrews 6:10) For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
