Unbelief Causes Even Miracles To Go Unnoticed

One would think if they saw an honest to God miracle that their faith would surely be strengthened and God would be praised, yet scripture tells us this is not always the case. Although Phar’-aoh saw ten miracles his heart was hardened by the Lord to not let the Israelites go, but it was the death of the firstborn which took his son that he let the people go and so began the exodus for Israel’s freedom. (Exodus 12:29-32)  And it came to pass, that at midnight the Lord smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the Lord, as ye have said. Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also……….(Exodus 11:1-6).

Even after many generations had come and gone we see in Jesus day unbelief was still present among the people! It is not until one understands with their heart and be converted to the truth will they be healed and made whole. (John 12:35-41). Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

Although God was very good to the people after leaving Egypt and had experienced many miracles and saw the glory of God as they were guided by a pillar of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire at night as they moved through the wilderness (Numbers 14:14), unbelief caused them to rebel and not hearken to the voice of God. God then made the decision to not allow them to see the promised land! Caleb on the other hand had the spirit to follow God and was given the promise that he and his seed would possess the land! (Numbers 14:22-24).  Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

It is mind boggling to say the least to see someone receive a miracle and not turn fully to the Lord! I have personally seen this happen and it is disheartening to watch one shun the miraculous hand of God, but I take comfort in knowing our Lord understands as He knows and has seen such unbelief as well in His own life!(Mark 6:4-6) But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.  And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

  1. Sister, I’ve witnessed this too… And also struggled with unbelief in my own walk. Thank you for posting this and the exhortation to trust and BELIEVE the LORD, and see. Blessings to you. ♥️Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

    • Hello kindred soul….. Always good to hear of another on the same path….. Life is hard, but even harder without our faith. Stay strong.
